On Axiom, the bribe is the extra amount you pay with MEV protection so your buy is handled through a protected route rather than exposed to bots that could front-run it. Axiom's documentation says an icon at the top right of the trade panel shows the current minimum MEV bribe, and your MEV protection fee must be higher than that minimum to stay protected. The docs add that MEV protection is mainly needed for buys, not for selling most tokens. Change it in your trade settings, set it just above the displayed minimum for normal conditions, and raise it only when the minimum rises.
01 / KNOW THE KNOBS
Priority fee, bribe and slippage compared
| Setting | What it does | Cost if set too high |
|---|---|---|
| Priority fee | Pays extra to improve the speed and likelihood of your transaction confirming | Paid on every trade, even when the network is quiet |
| MEV protection bribe | Protects buys from front-running; must exceed the displayed minimum | Paid on every protected trade |
| Slippage | Maximum price change you accept while the transaction confirms | Lets you buy far above the price you saw |
Our Axiom settings guide covers all three in depth, and Solana priority fees explained covers the network side.
02 / STEP BY STEP
How to change the bribe fee on Axiom
Open the trade panel
Open a token and go to the buy panel where your priority fee, slippage and MEV settings sit.
Check the minimum
Look at the MEV icon at the top right of the panel, which Axiom says displays the current minimum bribe.
Set your protection fee above it
Enter a bribe a little above the displayed minimum and save it to the preset you use.
Re-check during busy periods
When many traders compete, the minimum can rise. If protected buys stop landing, compare your setting with the current minimum.
Labels and placement can change; follow the live interface if it differs.
03 / SIZING
How much bribe is enough?
There is no universal number because the minimum moves with demand. Two rules keep costs sensible:
- Stay just above the minimum in normal conditions. Paying far above it rarely improves a normal trade.
- Compare fees with trade size. Fixed costs such as bribes and priority fees take a bigger share of small trades. Estimate the total with our Axiom fee calculator before trading small sizes often.
At token migrations and launches, many traders raise fees at once. Read the migration sniper guide before competing in those moments.
04 / WHEN IT MATTERS
Do you need MEV protection on sells?
Axiom's documentation says MEV protection is only necessary for buy transactions and does not need to be enabled for selling on most tokens. Front-running mainly hurts buyers, because a bot can buy just ahead of you and sell into your purchase. Turning protection off for normal sells avoids paying a bribe you don't need. Combine this with a sensible slippage setting.

Product behaviour comes from Axiom's documentation; sizing advice is general education, not a guarantee of execution. Fee levels change with network demand, so check the live minimum before trading.
