01 / DERIVATIVE EXPOSURE
What Are Axiom Perpetuals?
A perpetual contract is a derivative that tracks exposure to an underlying market without requiring spot ownership of that cryptocurrency. Buying a coin in a spot market normally gives you the asset; opening a perpetual position gives you a contract whose profit or loss changes with the market under the venue's rules.
Perpetual contracts generally have no fixed expiry. Funding payments can help keep the contract price near the underlying spot price, but funding mechanics, collateral and risk rules are venue-specific. Do not assume every market or venue works identically.
Axiom's official guide identifies a Perpetuals tab and documents trading on Hyperliquid from Axiom. This makes Axiom the user-facing interface in the documented flow and Hyperliquid the underlying trading venue. Verify the current arrangement, supported product and eligibility in both services' live terms.
02 / FRONT END AND VENUE
How Axiom Perpetuals Work
Axiom's documented flow starts in its Perpetuals tab, where a user selects a pair, chooses long or short, sets an amount and leverage, and monitors Positions, Open Orders and Trades. The documentation labels the integration as Hyperliquid-powered.
The distinction matters: Axiom can provide the front-end experience while the venue defines contract specifications, margin calculations, funding and liquidation mechanics. Do not infer supported assets, jurisdictions, custody arrangements, leverage limits or execution guarantees from this article.
See Axiom's official Trading on Hyperliquid guide and Perpetuals deposit page . These pages describe the published integration; check current platform terms before relying on older limits or rates.
03 / WORKSPACE MAP
Understanding the Axiom Perpetuals Interface
The previously observed workspace grouped market information, order controls and account state. Exact locations and available controls can change.
| Area | Purpose | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Chart | Displays historical price information over a selected interval. | Market, timeframe and price source. |
| Order book | Shows resting bids and asks where available. | Depth, spread and rapidly changing liquidity. |
| Order entry | Collects direction, order type, size and related controls. | Every live field before submission. |
| Long / Short | Selects positive or negative directional exposure. | Direction and whether the order opens or reduces exposure. |
| Leverage and margin | Sets exposure relative to posted collateral. | Mode, initial requirement and liquidation risk. |
| TP / SL | Configures conditional exit instructions where supported. | Trigger, order behaviour and execution limitations. |
| Positions | Shows active exposure and related account values. | Size, entry, mark price, PNL, margin and liquidation data where shown. |
| Open Orders | Lists instructions that have not fully executed. | Price, remaining size, status and cancellation. |
| Trade History | Records completed fills or trades. | Execution price, size and fees where displayed. |
04 / DIRECTION
Long vs Short
Positive price exposure
A long position generally gains when the contract price rises and loses when it falls.
Negative price exposure
A short position generally gains when the contract price falls and loses when it rises.
Loss remains possible
Either direction can lose through an adverse move, costs, funding or liquidation.
Simple illustration: if an unleveraged $100 notional long rises by 2%, its price-based PNL is approximately +$2 before costs; a short would be approximately −$2. If the market falls by 2%, the signs reverse. These examples explain direction only and are not recommendations or forecasts.
05 / AMPLIFIED EXPOSURE
Leverage Explained
In a simplified model, leverage relates position notional to initial margin:
For illustration, $100 of initial margin at 5× creates $500 of notional exposure. If the underlying price moves 2% against the position, the price-based PNL is approximately −$10 before fees, funding and slippage. That is a 10% loss relative to the original $100 margin.
Leverage does not make the underlying asset move further. It increases exposure relative to the collateral supporting the position. Higher leverage leaves less room for adverse movement and does not create free money.
The example isolates price-based PNL. Real maintenance margin, fees, funding and venue rules can cause liquidation before a simplified equity calculation reaches zero.
06 / COLLATERAL AND FORCED CLOSURE
Margin and Liquidation
Initial margin is the collateral required to open exposure. Maintenance margin is the minimum account or position equity required to keep it open under the venue's rules. A mark price is a venue-defined reference used in risk calculations rather than simply the last traded price.
Liquidation can occur when account or isolated-position equity falls below the required maintenance margin. Hyperliquid documents both cross margin, which shares collateral across eligible cross positions, and isolated margin, which constrains collateral to a position. Some assets may be isolated-only. Current Axiom access to each mode must be verified in the live interface.
Actual liquidation prices depend on maintenance requirements, funding, fees, position size, margin mode, other positions and venue rules. Hyperliquid explicitly notes that cross-position PNL and funding can change liquidation outcomes. This guide therefore does not calculate a liquidation price.

07 / EXECUTION INSTRUCTIONS
Market vs Limit Orders
Immediate execution attempt
A market order seeks available liquidity now. The final average price can differ from the displayed price because of spread, depth and slippage.
Price-controlled instruction
A limit order sets a price or better for execution. It may remain open, fill partly or never execute.
Live venue behaviour
Check reduce-only, time-in-force, trigger or other settings only where the current interface presents them.
Immediate execution does not mean guaranteed execution at one price. Price control does not mean guaranteed execution at all. Review the order book, size and live order preview.
Hyperliquid documents its current venue order definitions in Order Types .
08 / CONDITIONAL EXITS
Take Profit and Stop Loss
A take-profit instruction is intended to close or reduce exposure after a favourable move reaches a trigger. A stop-loss instruction is intended to close or reduce exposure after an adverse move reaches a trigger. The previously observed Axiom interface displayed TP/SL controls, and Hyperliquid documents conditional order types.
A trigger is not a guarantee of execution at the requested price. During volatile or illiquid conditions, a triggered market instruction may experience slippage, while a triggered limit instruction may remain unfilled. Confirm whether an instruction reduces the intended position and how the current venue handles partial fills. The dedicated Axiom TP/SL guide provides a pre-order checklist without inventing unsupported controls.
09 / FEES AND FUNDING
Funding Rates and Other Costs
Perpetual trading can involve several distinct costs: trading fees, funding payments, bid-ask spread, slippage and price impact. Liquidation can also expose a position to forced market execution or venue-specific processes.
Funding is a periodic payment between long and short positions that helps align a perpetual contract with its underlying spot reference. The paying side can change as the rate changes. Hyperliquid currently documents hourly funding and a separate perpetual fee schedule, but users must check the live venue terms and their own account tier.
Axiom's older deposit documentation stated an additional transaction fee for trading through its platform. Because rates and integrations can change, this article does not reproduce that figure as a current promise.
Our Axiom fee guide and calculator estimates the documented spot-style platform tiers covered there. It does not estimate Hyperliquid perpetual fees, funding, spread, slippage or liquidation effects.

10 / EDUCATIONAL MODEL
Educational Perpetual Risk Calculator
Use this simplified model to see how direction and leverage change price-based PNL relative to initial margin. It does not model a real Axiom or Hyperliquid position.
Leverage and PNL Scenario
Excludes trading fees, funding, slippage, maintenance margin and liquidation mechanics. A real position may be liquidated before hypothetical equity reaches zero.
The simplified scenario has exhausted the initial margin. This is not an actual liquidation threshold; a real position may be liquidated earlier.

12 / PRODUCT DIFFERENCES
Spot vs Perpetuals
| Question | Spot | Perpetuals |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership | Normally involves acquiring the underlying asset. | Provides derivative exposure rather than ownership of the underlying asset. |
| Direction | Basic purchases generally benefit from price rises. | Can provide long or short exposure where supported. |
| Leverage | May be absent from ordinary spot buying. | Often available and increases exposure relative to margin. |
| Funding | No perpetual funding payment. | Periodic funding may be paid or received. |
| Liquidation | An unborrowed spot holding is not liquidated for maintenance margin. | Leveraged exposure can be liquidated under venue rules. |
| Costs | Trading fees, spread, slippage and network costs may apply. | Trading fees, funding, spread, slippage and forced-execution effects may apply. |
| Risk | Asset price can still fall substantially. | Leverage and liquidation add risks beyond directional price movement. |
13 / SUBSTANTIAL RISK
Axiom Perpetuals Risks and Common Mistakes
Liquidation
Maintenance requirements can force a position to close before a simple zero-equity estimate.
Volatility and leverage
A relatively small market move can create a large gain or loss relative to margin.
Funding changes
The rate and paying side can change while a position remains open.
Spread and slippage
Execution may differ from the displayed price, especially during stress or thin liquidity.
Platform and venue risk
A front-end or underlying venue can experience outages, latency, rule changes or technical failures.
Margin-mode mistakes
Cross and isolated margin expose collateral differently; assuming the wrong mode can change the loss path.
Stop execution
A trigger does not guarantee an exit at the selected price.
Wallet security
Phishing, compromised credentials and malicious approvals can create losses unrelated to market direction.
Restrictions and eligibility
Product access can depend on jurisdiction, account and current terms.
Leveraged crypto derivatives may not be available or appropriate for every visitor. This site does not provide legal availability assurances. Check the current Axiom and venue terms and applicable local rules before accessing the product.
14 / QUICK ANSWERS
Axiom Perpetuals FAQ
What are Axiom perpetuals?
They are perpetual derivative positions accessed through Axiom's documented Perpetuals workspace, providing price exposure without spot ownership.
Does Axiom support perpetual futures?
Axiom's official documentation describes perpetual trading through its Perpetuals tab. Verify current functionality and eligibility in the live platform.
Does Axiom use Hyperliquid?
Axiom's published documentation identifies Hyperliquid as the venue powering its documented perpetual flow. Confirm the current integration before trading.
Can you go long and short?
Axiom's guide documents long and short controls. Both directions can lose money when the market moves adversely or costs accumulate.
How does leverage work?
Leverage increases notional exposure relative to initial margin. It magnifies price-based gains and losses measured against that margin.
What causes liquidation?
Venue rules can liquidate exposure when relevant account or isolated-position equity falls below required maintenance margin.
Can you lose more than your initial margin?
Loss treatment depends on margin mode, other positions, venue rules and extreme execution conditions. Review current official risk terms rather than assuming a fixed maximum.
What is a funding rate?
It is a periodic payment between long and short positions designed to help keep a perpetual contract near its underlying spot reference.
What is the difference between spot and perpetuals?
Spot generally involves owning an asset; perpetuals provide derivative exposure and may add leverage, funding and liquidation risk.
Does Axiom charge separate perpetual fees?
Axiom previously documented a transaction fee for its perpetual interface, while Hyperliquid publishes venue fees. Verify both current fee layers in official terms and the live order preview.
Does the calculator predict liquidation?
No. It estimates simplified price-based PNL and omits maintenance margin, funding, fees, slippage and actual liquidation mechanics.
Are perpetuals available in the US and UK?
Availability and eligibility can change and may depend on jurisdiction and current terms. US and UK readers must verify restrictions directly with Axiom, the venue and applicable local rules.
